Full Time RVers and Campers Secret - Systems breed success

In my career as an administrative assistant, I needed to make sure the company ran smoothly. My secret was simple: Systems breed success.

The same applies to those of us whom are full time RVers and Campers running a business on the road. The secret to being really productive is having marketing, sales and administrative procedures in place. It all starts with having a deliberate marketing, lead-capture and follow-up system working smoothly for you from the very beginning.

Unless you live in a cave, you know that you must always be marketing simply because some clients won't pay or stay booked. You know that the time may come when you're on your last project with no one in the pipeline. Having a system in place will keep your pipeline full.

System A system is a set of interacting or interdependent component parts forming a complex/intricate whole. Every system is delineated by its spatial and temporal boundaries, surrounded and influenced by its environment, described by its structure and purpose and expressed in its functioning. en.wikipedia.org · Text under CC-BY-SA license Wikipedia

Why do we need Systems?
  • Simplify your life
  • Make things easier to automate
  • Saves you time and mental effort and gives you something you can repeat
  • Makes it easier to fix things when issues arise
  • Simplifies the hiring of new team members using documented systems
What Systems should we put in place:
  • Marketing
  • Client Management (CRM)
  • Billing
  • Communication/Collaboration
  • Content Creation
  • Product Creation
  • Time Management and Productivity (Calendar)
Putting all these systems into place takes time and you will constantly be changing how things are done as you discover new tools to use in your business. When I worked in the Associate in Nursing program at a local university it took me seven years to finalize the system that worked flawlessly. As of this post writing, that system is still being used, and even provided the opportunity for the current administrative assistant to receive an award for organizational skills.

Documenting your systems of what you do step by step is tedious but it must be done in order for your business to be successful. Think what if an emergency occurs and you become ill while on the road. You need to make sure that whomever you are traveling with, your virtual assistant, or even another team member, will be able to pick up your systems binder and run your business until you are back in good health. Having everything documented step by step will ensure that your income will continue. Get started right this minute documenting your systems and watch the successes come into your life!
